Luggage: Just in case your checked-in baggage is lost or misdirected during travel, we recommend you carry a spare set of clothes in your hand luggage.

Travel times
Participants are asked to arrive in Canada no later than Saturday 15 October. For a comfortable return journey we advise participants to arrange departures after 10.00am on Sunday 23 October.

If necessary, participants are free to leave following the close of training at 6pm on 22 October but we encourage everyone to stay and enjoy the graduation celebrations!

Our venue is approximately 30 minutes from the Ottawa Airport.

Low carbon travel
LEAD encourages everyone attending the International Session to consider low-carbon modes of transport for their travel plans to Canada, and within the country if you are planning further travel after the event.

Flight offsetting: For many of our participants, flying will be the only viable way to travel. We urge participants to consider offsetting their emissions with a responsible and accredited offset provider such as The Carbon Neutral Company.

Insurance
Individuals should arrange their own travel insurance to cover their flights and any days spent in Canada before or after the event. LEAD will arrange insurance to cover all participants during the International Session (16-22 October inclusive).

Visa and entry requirements
All travellers are strongly advised to check the website of their nearest Canadian Embassy to discover individual entry requirements. Entry requirements and application processes vary from country to country. If you need an invitation letter to support your visa application, please contact your nearest LEAD Member Programme.

Points to note:

  • Apply for your visa well in advance of your travel date. Time needed to process visas can vary from country to country. Always allow more than the average time for your application.
  • Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months after your date of travel.
  • Check the entry requirements for countries through which you may transit during your journey. The USA and several other countries often require travellers to carry valid transit visas.
